A Mother, A Great Friend, and A Book Lover

kami

Many of you have already heard, but I wanted to pay respects to my friend Kami. She was a fellow blogger here at Contagious Reads. She passed away suddenly on Friday morning. She was a loving mother of 3 kids. Her kids are all amazing, and she was a great mom.

Kami and I go way back, before we even started this blog. She is the one who set me up with the father of my beautiful daughter. She was there when that relationship fell apart. She was there when my mom got cancer. She has been by my side for the better part of 6 years. We had our ups and downs, as every relationship has. But no matter what I knew I could count on her. I hope she felt the same about me. I hope she knew that I would have done anything for her. I think she did.

Kami loved to read. I’m serious. She loved to read so much that she may have gotten in trouble for bringing her kindle to work a few too many times. She didn’t care though. She would lose herself in books and just not be able to let go. When I started book blogging Kami was the first person I asked to post reviews with me. She was the only person in life who shared my passion for reading. I’m going to miss talking books with her.

Authors inspired her. Two weeks ago she sent me the beginnings of a book that she was working on. It was good, I wanted her to write more and finish it. It was a zombie book, and her setup was already creepy and intense.

To all of the authors that knew her, and have supported us through this ride thank you for your kind thoughts. To our blog readers, and fellow bloggers who have expressed your condolences, thank you too. If you want to leave any wishes here for her and her family feel free too. I will pass them on to her sisters.

To honor Kami, we will be having a black out day on Thursday. There will be no posts from us on the blog. I will be keeping the facebook and twitter silent as well.

To Kami, I love you. I miss you. I hope that you have peace. Smile on all of us, because we still need you to have our backs.

XOXO

  • Kami was part of a mom’s message board with me. Lately she had been encouraging me on my writing journey, and I hers. My heart is broken for her kids and family and the fact that someone so young has been taken from us. She will be missed for sure.

    You’re leaving soon,
    Continuing with your journey,
To reach your goal of life.

You may be reluctant to go,
But always remember that those you love,
Will always be there by your side.

Never forget the place you learned.
    The place of great friendship.
The place where you’ll always find love
Test out your wings and fly.
    Now fly,
Fly off for your destiny a waits
