I was excited to jump into Alexxxa because I haven’t had a chance to read anything by D.T. Dyllin, yet. I now know, that I will have to take more time to read her books.
Alexa is a porn star. She’s actually THE porn star. She LOVES her job and all of her fans, but like most people is feeling a little burnt out on her job. So she takes a mini-vacation to go back home. That vacation is sidetracked when David and his film crew decide to make Alexa the star of their documentary about the porn industry. The rest of the book follows her reunion with her old hometown and her blooming relationship with David.
What I absolutely loved about Alexxxa was Alexa. She wasn’t the nicest or most lovable character out there. I don’t want a heroine that is two dimensional and perfect. I want one that messes up and makes a ton of mistakes.
I think the way she views herself and her life is struck a lot of chords with me, because she’s very much a reality. No, not all women are porn stars, but we all fight this battle together. Some of us more so than others.
I loved that there was a message in this book. It wasn’t preachy, but it makes you think even while still being a highly entertaining read. This is not some mind numbing afternoon read at all.
Watching Alexa interact with people around her, everyday people and not other porn stars was probably my favorite part, because these other characters really brought out some great character growth for Alexa. So in the beginning while I wasn’t sure I even liked the girl, but the end I definitely understood her and respected her.
You all probably want to know about the sex right? That’s what draws you into a book like this, and was definitely a huge perk!!! It was steamy, and adventurous and different. It wasn’t the same sex scene regurgitated throughout the book!!!
The writing was great. It was thoughtful, and moving. It kept the plot moving along. I have no complaints about the quality of D.T.’s writing. I have a few of her other books on my kindle and I am definitely going to be giving them a bump on the TBR list.
