What would you do to have the body of your dreams?
Kiera hates being overweight and hides behind thick layers of clothing. One night, her friends
present an opportunity that seems impossible to believe. With a single spell, she can have the
thin physique she's always coveted.
But all magic comes with a price: no sex or she'll revert back to her old body. Kiera accepts the
cost. It's not like she has men lined up at her door. Obeying this one tiny rule isn't difficult at
all—until the night she meets Cain, a were-tiger and a soldier with the Eternal Forces.
When a slew of unexplained murders forces Kiera and Cain together, they'll have to face the
horrors of their pasts. Will Kiera realize she is worth more than her outward appearance? Or will
she make the wrong the choice and lose everything—including her life?
As I started the first chapter, I had my doubts. I was worried that the obvious moral would overpower the plot, and character development would fall by the wayside. Boy, was I wrong! There was so much more to this story than a lesson to learn!
The synopsis doesn’t give anything away. I had no idea the genre twist it would take and I’m on the fence whether or not to discuss it. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone else, but at the same time, it’s a big part of the book and nearly impossible not to mention. Let me just say, keep an open mind and be prepared for anything.
I really enjoyed the variety of characters, from strong and silent, to shy and wounded. The sex is hot, strong and animalistic. On one hand, you have the classic Alpha male, but on the other hand, you have an equally Alpha female. Kiera just doesn’t know how much power she has yet. She sees herself as weak and unattractive, and it takes a major shift in her world for her to learn just how mistaken she is. Cain sees the parts of Kiera that are buried deep inside, and I love how loyal he can be!
The writing style is just as strong as the characters. Megan writes with confidence and flair, with a perfect balance of exciting twists and character development. It’s well edited and easy to read. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised with it and now I’m hooked! 😀
The Eternal Forces will be a series to watch out for. I am crazy curious to see what kind of trouble they get into next!
