My heart isn’t my own.
And I don’t mean romantically.
Six months ago, I had a heart transplant. Now I’m learning to live again with someone else’s heart beating in my chest. My scars both inside and out haunt my every waking moment.
Then I meet Rhys, the tattooed Yank that finds himself transplanted to my Southern hometown. Even though he’s haunted by his own scars, he’s determined to show me how to embrace my second chance at life.
I’m not sure if I can give someone my heart when it wasn’t mine to begin with.
And neither of our hearts will survive rejection.
A standalone NA contemporary romance coming February 2016.
Open Hearts is an amazingly sweet love story! Becks is facing a very personal battle after a heart transplant, while Rhys is recovering from a lifetime of heartbreak. Committing theirs hearts to another person seems nearly impossible. I adored being welcomed into their journey, even those moments that felt so private that it was almost intrusive to read. 😉
Now, I have to admit that I made a special allowance for Open Hearts. I usually prefer my contemp romance with a little more anguish. BUT I’m a huge fan of Erin Hayes, and I know that I can trust her to craft an amazing story! She’s such an eclectic author, dabbling in so many genres (which is PERFECT, because I just so happen to be an eclectic READER!) and she always manages to impress me. I’m SO glad to have read this one. It left me feeling all kinds of warm fuzzies.
I wish I could have seen the artwork that Becks creates. Likewise, I wish I could catch a glimpse of Rhys’ “tinkering”. The descriptions paint their own picture in my mind, but I’m sure it could never do it justice. Can’t wait to see what Erin Hayes comes up with next! 😀
Sci-fi junkie, video game nerd, and wannabe manga artist Erin Hayes writes a lot of things. Sometimes she writes books, like the fantasy mystery novel Death is but a Dream, the sci-fi middle grade book Jacob Smith is Incredibly Average, and the Her Wolf paranormal series.
She works as an advertising copywriter during the day, and she moonlights as an author. She has lived in New Zealand, Texas, and now in Birmingham, Alabama with her husband, cat, and a growing collection of geek paraphernalia.
You can reach her at email@example.com and she’ll be happy to chat. Especially if you want to debate Star Wars.
