There are secrets in the town of Bon Temps, ones that threaten those closest to Sookie—and could destroy her heart...

Sookie Stackhouse finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance…and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.

Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.

But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough...

And so it is done. 13 books and a hit HBO show later, and Sookie’s literary saga has finally drawn to a close. I am absolutely dying to hear what everyone thinks about this. I have already had heated discussions with friends about who Sookie finally ended up with, or about the quality of the series overall. One thing we can all agree on? It’s about time! I have loved this series (or at least the characters) right from the beginning, but lately, the books have been falling a little flat.

I’m going to come across as being shallow when I say this, but I think what the story was lacking was SEX! Gone are the days of hot vamp sex, and the story has been struggling ever since. I got tired of hearing Sookie complain about Eric’s lack of communication. JUST GET IT ON, ALREADY! All this talking (about not talking) is spoiling my mood! And Eric’s political struggles? *yawn* Politics have no place in my hot sexy vampire fantasies! </rant>

As tempting as it is to spoil the book for you, and tell you WHO she ends up with, I promise I won’t. I will just say that it was totally obvious. I had it figured out within the first chapter. It’s not who I wanted it to be, but I won’t bitch and complain about her choice. I’m not one of those fans.  I made my peace and I’m moving on with my life.

Being the final book, I can kind of understand Harris’ plot choices, but it kinda reminded me a bit of the series finale of Seinfeld, with a parade of all the past characters. Most of these cameos felt completely unnecessary, except to remind the readers that they had once existed, and to update us to what was happening with their lives. Again… *yawn* I could have done without the first 150 pages. WAY too much setup, most of which was spent on that character parade. Meh.

I wish I could believe that this series has died the final death, but I have that little itch at the back of my brain telling me that it will be revived in some way. Spin off? Short stories? I sincerely hope it doesn’t. It would detract from an otherwise decent series. We have to admit, though, that Sookie has become a bit of a cash cow. I can imagine that it might be hard for Harris to say no…

And now, something I’ve never tried before. A POLL! (Basically, WP has the option, so I’m using this as the opportunity to try something new. Yay for me.) I want to know who you wanted Sookie to end up with. NOT who you think she will, if you haven’t read the book. But which supernatural being got your engine revving??

Oh I’m totally one of those fans. I raged hard when I found out how this series ended. The whole book was one big face palm. I just hope the choices CH made towards the end of the series never happen on the TV show.

This whole series went out of control wayyyy before this. But i saw that match up coming 10 MILES AWAY. I did. And I’m not even mad.
