Fire meets ice. Love meets hate.
Seventeen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, nine weeks, and five days, and after what happened last time, she intends to keep it that way. Since then she’s lost eighty-five pounds, gotten four streaks of purple in her hair, and moved to the Buttcrack-of-Nowhere Ohio to help her mom escape a bad relationship.
All the girls in her new school want one thing – Jack Hunter, the Ice Prince of East Summit High. Hot as an Armani ad, smart enough to get into Yale, and colder than the Arctic, Jack Hunter’s never gone out with anyone. Sure, people have seen him downtown with beautiful women, but he’s never given high school girls the time of day. Until Isis punches him in the face.
Jack’s met his match. Suddenly everything is a game.
The goal: Make the other beg for mercy.
The game board: East Summit High.
The reward: Something neither of them expected.

Maybe someday I’ll get rid of him. I hope so, at least. But hope is hard to hold without cutting yourself on it, so I try not to hold on too tight.
This is the kind of book that I will remember for years to come. The writing style is so unique that I have already begun to look into Sara’s previous books and will now be
stalking, I mean… following her online. From a safe and legal distance. 😉 I know it doesn’t mean much, since it’s only February, but this is my favorite book of the year so far. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! It actually breaks my heart a little that I can’t give it more than five stars.
This won’t be a book that everyone will love as much as I did. This is NOT your standard writing style which just made me adore it all the more! I loved every second of it! There is minor language, but nothing too vulgar and all if it plays a part in the characters’ personalities. They came through with crystal clarity.
“I’m just trying to be nice! You’re such a fat doodoo shitbaby!”
“Occasionally I have fantasies of intellectual conversation,” He sighs.
Isis is amazing! She has this great relationship with her mother, and they need and support each other through every step of their journey together. They are both suffering through unspoken trauma, neither one speaking of the issues that need to be addressed, but loving each other unconditionally all the same. Isis is used to flying under the radar, hoping to have maybe just one friend, if she’s lucky, but to me, she shines out from under her surroundings. She is unique and strong, and so sassy and sarcastic. She is loyal to a fault. Exactly my type of girl. It only seemed right that Jack would notice her too.
“Did you have fun? How many boys did you make out with?” She asks.
“Seventy. At least.”
“How many shots did you take?”
“Fourteen. I let go of the wheel halfway home and Jesus drove me the rest of the way”
She laughs and strokes my head. “I’m glad you had fun.”
Jack comes across as cold, callous and cruelly bitter, but as the story moves forward, we are given brief glimpses into his POV. He is a perfect match for Isis in every way, but love can never be easy. At least, not with these two! There is a chemical heat moving between them, and I was drawn into it right from the get-go. Isis’ inner voice is full of sarcastic drama, and I can’t get enough! The sequel, Savage Delight, is scheduled to come out on February 10th, and even though it’s only days away, it’s not nearly soon enough! I need that sequel NOW!
Here Lies A Stupid Little Girl, Who Collapsed Into A Casual Ball Of Panic And Pitiful Sobs At The Idea Of Love. P.S. Cupid Won This Round, Sucka. That would be my gravestone, and pigeons would poop on it and teenagers would have sex on it, and when the world floods from global warming it’ll flood and my pathetic fetal-position bones will float up and I’ll wander as a ghost and wail in couples’ ears-“
