Jude has spent the whole twenty one years of his life running. From what, he wasn't quite sure. His mother tried to keep him safe; a low profile, a constant move on the horizon, a week's pay always stashed away. She tried to instill in him that he was special somehow, though would never elaborate. He never felt different. He was so completely normal and vanilla that he wondered if it had all been in her head. But then she was murdered and all he saw was a running silhouette of a man as his mother said three final words to him. Three words that changed his whole being.

Never stop running…

Now he's semi-settled into a big town. The college is huge and easy to blend into. It's been three months since he had to move because 'Biloxi', as he calls the man who killed his mother, found him once more.

Then Marley, an eighteen year old girl who is as infuriating as she is blissfully ignorant of her gorgeousness, smashes into his car with hers. Then smashes into his life as he realizes that whatever it is he has that Biloxi wants, she has it, too. And now, they're after them both.

Yes, this book is a contemp romance, but it is also much, much more. It completely surprised me as turning out to be a mystery. The book starts out with Jude, who is running for his life.  I had no clue why he was running, but that’s perfect, because he doesn’t know why he’s running either. For as long as he can remember, he has been chased by a man known only as Biloxi.

Right off, Marley crashes into the scene. Literally. She crashes her car into Jude’s. And now, try as he might, he can’t seem to shake her. The chemistry between Marley and Jude is instant and searing. Their relationship is largely clean, but still manages to be smokin’ hot! Their dialogue ranges from frisky to sweet; even a little sickly so at times.

There were a few things that bothered me a little. First off, Jude keeps saying “Daggum”. I have never actually met anyone who says this, and have such a hard time hearing it in my head. Second, the last few chapters felt unnecessary. It wrapped up everything a little too neatly. I didn’t need it spelled out for me. My imagination could have worked out the majority on its own. The last three chapters could have been compressed into a brief epilogue instead.

Despite my nitpicking, I loved that this was not your typical contemporary! The romance was obviously foremost in the plot, but the mystery was running throughout, leaving me constantly wondering what was going on. It drove me forward, turning page after page, knowing that Biloxi could turn up at any moment. Overall, a great, page-turner.
