In a heart-racing thriller described as Falling Skies meets The Walking Dead, Jennie struggles to find a safe place for what’s left of her family. But it seems as though there is no place sacred, no place secure. First the aliens attacked the sun, making it dimmer, weaker, and half what it used to be. Then they attacked the water supply, killing one-third of Earth’s population with a bitter contaminate. And when they unleash a new terror on humankind, the victims will wish for death, but will not find it…When the world shatters to pieces around her, will Jennie find the strength she needs to keep going?
First off, check out the new cover! While I didn’t have a problem with the old one, the new one calls to me. LOVE it!
Zombies are my bread n butter, people! But this book isn’t just about zombies. No way. Nuh uh. In fact, they’re more like a symptom of a larger problem. Aliens! And these extraterrestrials don’t just bring zombies into our world. They have other weapons up their sleeves. This book reminded me that I don’t read enough alien books. Seriously. When aliens are involved, anything goes. They could have brought ANYTHING with them from their planet, so I’m in a constant state of anxiety. Every time the characters hear a sound, I’m already gripping my seat wondering what could possibly come next!
Sanctuary is an award winning novel: 1st Place Christian YA Title 2013 Dante Rosetti Award and 2014 Readers’ Choice Gold Award for Best YA Horror Novel. So… Christian fiction. I never would have thought of Christian fiction and zombies being mixed together, but you know what? It works! Obviously, there’s religion in it, but it’s not overpowering, and certainly doesn’t take away from the excitement! I would have read straight through the night, if it weren’t so dark!
The second I finished the book (and I mean the literal second), I headed straight to the computer and demanded that Pauline write a sequel. Apparently there’s already one in the works! YAY! Hopefully I won’t have to wait too long before finding out what comes next, because I just know that those aliens aren’t finished messing with those pesky humans yet.
