In the second installment of the Spellspinners saga, Lily’s worldview is rocked by fear, mistrust, and heartbreak, as she deals with the fallout from the night of her enchantment.
Someone powerful is determined to keep her and Logan apart. But who? And why?
As the covens prepare to do battle in the Solstice Stones, the lines between good and evil, dark and light, begin to blur. Allegiances are called into question. Trust is broken. And all Lily knows may just be an illusion.
Will the star-crossed lovers unearth the seeds of betrayal before it’s too late? Or will the witches and warlocks of Melas County be forced to say goodbye to their magic—and any chance of reconciliation between the covens—for good?
In The Gleaning, nothing is as it seems. And Lily and Logan will have to tread carefully if they hope to uncover the truth in time to save their love and break the curse.
This is the second book in the series, and I decided to take a different approach. As in the first book, this story is told with a special twist – an interactive experience akin to those “choose your own adventure” books from your childhood (or MY childhood at least. How old am I again??). Anyway, last time I felt the need to reread the story, to find out what happened with all the other choices. It affected my enjoyment of the story. So THIS time, I just went through it once. It is driving me NUTS not knowing everything I missed! But I definitely enjoyed it more. I wonder how long until I give in and go back for a peek….
In this sequel, we’re given a look into the past of the witches and warlocks. I am definitely dying to find out how everything became so messed up for them! There is also confusion and betrayal, and who doesn’t love a little tension?! What I did miss, was the romance. Lily and Logan are being kept apart (at least in the version I read), and I missed their banter and their chemistry. See? Now I’m starting to talk myself into reading another version, to see if they get more time together!
And the ending. *sigh* Heidi Kling is seriously the master of a cliffhanger! There I was, feeling so thrilled that this giant battle was about to happen, and then it’s left like that?! ACK! It’s official. I’m hooked. I NEED the next book, because I can’t possibly go on with my everyday, mundane, non-magical life without knowing what happens!
