Those born Reflective are the only beings with the ability to jump between worlds. With The Cause firmly entrenched by years of highly stylized military-type training in combat of every kind, they use their natural born ability for inter-dimensional travel to police worlds where wrongdoing has overtaken civility.
As an elite Reflective, Jeb Merrick finds himself partnered with a rare female Reflective. Merrick is convinced that she can do nothing but slow him down. Beth Jasper is small, in both stature and mindset. When they are thrust together as partners, Merrick vows that she will receive the same neutral treatment as a male. Merrick cannot allow the unlikely union of Beth Jasper to get in the way of finding his prophesied soulmate. .
Beth discovers she is partnered with the cockiest of all pureblood Reflectives and struggles to maintain her composure with a hostile partner whose loyalty she doesn't possess.
Can the Reflectives uphold The Cause, reach a point of compromise and find their chosen soulmates?
I feel like I have been waiting forever for this book. When Tamara announced that she was going to write it, I was all over the idea!!! You see, I am a huge fan of Tamara Rose Blodgett. Everything she writes I read, and I LOVE 100% of it.
The cover is gorgeous and fits the book so well. Another great collaboration of great and talented ladies!
I was so honored to receive an early copy of this book from the author. The Reflective is the adult PNR from Tamara Rose Blodgett. It’s so cool. I can’t even begin to describe the world that Tamara built in this one. It’s thick, and full, and filled with awesome.
The main character is a girl named Beth. Beth is a Reflective. How do we know this? Because when a child is born Reflective the butterflies in their world will swoop down and embrace the infant. To be Reflective means that you can transport or jump to other worlds, and realities through reflective surfaces. Beth is unique. She’s very ‘Other’ and that makes her a target. I can’t and I won’t tell you how, but what I can tell you is that Beth’s journey throughout this books is painful. She doesn’t have it easy. The highs and lows of Beth’s life jump of the page and gripped me. I was totally immersed in this book.
Beth’s partner is a totally charming and swoon worthy Reflective named Jeb. Jeb’s not entirely sold on having Beth as partner but they have a job to do. Jeb is an interesting character, he’s an alpha as only Tamara can write him. He’s all parts man, but so much more. Jeb is a keeper ladies.
The BIG BAD! I absolutely LOVE the baddies that Tamara’s brain spits out at us. They are so awesome. They ooze disgusting, vile, nastiness from every pore of their bodies! I can’t help but love to hate the bad guys in her books. This one is no different. I don’t want to reveal ANYTHING because the plot is so twisty that I want you to feel the gut punch when the shit hits the fan like I did.
This book is full of things that go bump in the night. It’s reach is broad as it’s potential audience. Really, if you are wanting to dive head first into a new PNR series then start the Reflective.
The writing is dead on. It’s clear, but swift moving. The action sequences are by far my favorite out of the entire book. The Reflective ranks highly in my top ten reads of 2014. Highly. Like really, really up there. 😉
