Some universal truths refuse to be ignored.
Peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven. Spaghetti and meatballs are best friends forever. And guys like Tyler Knight don’t go for girls like Cam Emerson.
She knew from the second she met him that he didn’t belong on her bookshelf, the six-foot-six ex-tight end with a face so all-American, it could have sold apple pie. So she shelved him next to the supermodels and rock stars and took her place on her own shelf — the one with the flannel-clad, pasty-faced comic book nerds. Most of her boyfriends have existed between the pages of books, but rather than worrying over her own lacking love life, she puts all her energy into playing Cupid, using her job at the book bar, Wasted Words, as her stomping ground.
Tyler Knight always looks on the bright side. His career-ending injury turned into a job as a sports agent. A horrible breakup led him to Cam, his quirky, smart roommate who is far more beautiful than she realizes. She’s made it perfectly clear she’s not interested in him — not like that at least — but if she ever changes her mind, he won’t hesitate. Because he doesn’t see the lines she’s drawn between them, as much as she insists that they’re there. Deep down he knows that despite their differences, they’re a match well made.
*A romantic comedy inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma*

LOVED this book. Seriously, Loved it. It had everything that I love about Staci’s writing in it, plus a hot new couple to drool over. Tyler and Cam are #goals. I love how real Cam is. She’s a down low legit girl that could be anyone of us. She’s got the same issues that I think a lot of women suffer from. This book has a lot of pre-publication hype and it’s totally worth it. If you loved the Bad Habits series then I think you’ll definitely love Wasted Words.
WW is a book that can easily be devoured in a day, so definitely do pick it up for your weekend read. The storyline ebbs and flows through all of those pre-relationship and early relationship trials. Cam gets pretty awkward at times, and watching her go through those growing pains was something that I could relate to. There is a ton of steamy, sexy stuff too. Which NEVER hurts.
I wish there was some way that I could burrow my way into the heads of everyone and make them go buy this book! But I can’t, but you should. Buy this book, I mean. Just do it!!! And then read it. Don’t let it sit on your kindle, buy it, read it, and love it!
Wasted Words has got it all! It’s smart, sassy, snarky, sexy… and don’t forget steamy! Full disclosure: I haven’t read the Bad Habits series yet (I’m sorry! Don’t hurt me!) but on the plus side, I can attest to the fact that you can read Wasted Words as a standalone novel. There are some obvious nods to the previous books, but all it did was whet my appetite for more. I will most definitely be devouring the others!
Cam is one of the most realistic protagonists that you’ll ever meet. She has all the same insecurities that I’ve felt myself, and I think it’s safe to say that a lot of people will be able to relate. Relationship, especially new ones, aren’t easy. They take a HUGE amount of work. Romance books and movies often cut to the credits once the guy gets the girl. They aren’t showing you the nitty gritty, and Staci Hart has filled in the blanks between “boy meets girl” and “happily ever after”.
Despite all of Cam’s faults, she certainly does have impeccable taste. Tyler can be my Mr. Knightley any day! Did you see that up there in the synopsis?? Wasted Words is inspired by Emma (One of my all-time favorite books EVER) and I have to say that it was a beautiful homage. The scene of Emma’s public rudeness, which always made me feel sick to my stomach, was reflected by Cam’s own stomach-clenching humiliation. It made me feel ill at ease; it was perfect.
When Tyler and Cam got together, I was giddy… and then I realized that it was WAAAAY too early in the book, and a whole bunch of stuff was about to go sooooo wrong. Luckily, Cam and Tyler and willing to work at making it right. <3
About Staci Hart:
Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, even though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.
From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s sleeping, cleaning, or designing graphics.
