Lovely Vicious Collage

Fire meets ice. Love meets hate.

Seventeen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, nine weeks, and five days, and after what happened last time, she intends to keep it that way. Since then she’s lost eighty-five pounds, gotten four streaks of purple in her hair, and moved to the Buttcrack-of-Nowhere Ohio to help her mom escape a bad relationship.

All the girls in her new school want one thing – Jack Hunter, the Ice Prince of East Summit High. Hot as an Armani ad, smart enough to get into Yale, and colder than the Arctic, Jack Hunter’s never gone out with anyone. Sure, people have seen him downtown with beautiful women, but he’s never given high school girls the time of day. Until Isis punches him in the face.

Jack’s met his match. Suddenly everything is a game.

The goal: Make the other beg for mercy.

The game board: East Summit High.

The reward: Something neither of them expected.

Light meets dark. Secrets meet truth.

It’s been three years, twenty-five weeks, and five days since Isis Blake fell in love, and if she has it her way, it’ll stretch into infinity.

After a run-in with her mom’s ex-boyfriend, she scrabbles to remember what she’s lost to amnesia. Her ex-nemesis Jack falls deeper into a pit of despair, and his girlfriend Sophia does all she can to keep him to herself. But as Isis’ memories return, she finds it harder and harder to resist what she felt for Jack, and Jack finds it impossible to stay away from the only girl who’s ever melted the ice around his heart.

As the dark secrets surrounding Sophia emerge, Isis realizes Jack isn’t who she thought he was. He’s dangerous. But when Isis starts receiving terrifying emails from an anonymous source, that danger might be the only thing protecting her from something far more threatening.

Her past.

Life meets death. The end meets the beginning.

Eighteen-year-old Isis Blake hasn’t fallen in love in three years, forty-three weeks, and two days. Or so she thinks.

The boy she maybe-sort-of-definitely loved has dropped off the face of the planet after his girlfriend’s death, leaving a Jack-shaped hole. Determined to be happy, Isis fills it in with lies and puts on a brave smile for her new life at Ohio State University.

But how long can that smile last with all of her friends gone?

How long can it last with the guilt of Sophia’s death crushing her?

And how long can it really last when Will Cavanaugh attends the same school, taunting her?

Isis is good at pretending everything is okay. But not that good. The cracks begin to show.

Isis Blake is good at putting herself back together.

But Jack Hunter is better.

At the end of 2014 I found myself starring down the barrel of only 93 books read on my goodreads challenge. Granted my goal was only 50 books, but that number taunted me. In previous years I’d read well over 100 books. So I decided that I was going to cram in those last seven books in less than a two weeks.

I’d like to thank Sara Wolf for writing these books because very easily I ticked off 3 of those seven books. I’d purchased Lovely Vicious at some point in the past and I randomly picked it off my kindle list. Fate! Fate introduced me to my all time favorite female heroine in any story ever! I’m not even kidding guys. Isis Blake is fucking awesome. I know. I know. Language. But if you’re not prepared for the finer parts of the English language. Those amazing four letter words. Then there is no way you can handle Isis. She makes up cuss words that put me and my foul language to shame. I have never, ever had such a girl crush on a female character. I mean it’s come pretty close. But Isis Blake is my top numero uno book girlfriend!!!

The story follows Isis after having her heart broken. 3 years after the fact in fact, she thinks she’s holding strong. That’s until she meets Jack. Jack is an asshole. He’s also smart, and good looking. He and Isis have the best banter ever!!! Their chemistry is awesome, even when it’s off (intentionally, it’s part of the story) in book two, it’s still on fire! There is a mystery surrounding Jack. And his girlfriend. One that Isis is dying to figure out. Even after her war with Jack is over, she can’t leave it alone. This plot element kept me turning the pages almost as fast as the words between the two leads. Seriously. I have never laughed so hard at book. Ever. For the people who love a bit of swoon, don’t worry there is that in these books too.

We’ve established that Jack is an asshole, but he’s an asshole with a heart. He didn’t make my skin crawl like a lot of male leads. So yay!
The books are dark. There are some heavy issues handled in the pages. Yes, there is also a body count. But you’ll have to read them to find out more about that.

I read the entire series twice since Dec. 2014. I’m tempted to go in for a third time.

The Lovely Vicious Series is now one of my all time favorite reads of forever!!!
