Elyse’s Pick:

Sweet Reckoning
Last book in the Sweet Series
by Wendy Higgins
Release date: April 29, 2014
Amazon | Goodreads

It’s time.

Evil is running rampant and sweet Anna Whitt is its target. Nobody knows when or how the Dukes will strike, but Anna and her Nephilim allies will do anything necessary to rid the earth of the demons and their oppressive ways.

The stakes are higher than ever, and Anna is determined that the love she feels will be her strength, not a liability. But trying to protect the ones she loves while running for her life and battling demonic forces proves to be perilous—especially as faces are changing and trust is fleeting. When the Duke of Lust sends Anna’s great love, Kaidan Rowe, to work against her, Anna must decide how much she’s prepared to risk.

In the most sensual and fast-paced installment yet, Sweet Reckoning brings all the beloved Neph together one last time to fight for their freedom.

Let’s just say I have no problem admitting that ‘I sigh for Kai’ And if you haven’t started this series yet you should! The first book in the series Sweet Evil is on sale for $1.99 at     Amazon. <(—-Just click it. You know you want to!

Lindsay’s pick

birdboxBird Box
by Josh Malerman
expected publication: May 13, 2014

Most people ignored the outrageous reports on the news. But they became too frequent, they became too real. And soon, they began happening down the street. Then the Internet died. The television and radio went silent. The phones stopped ringing. And we couldn’t look outside anymore. Malorie raises the children the only way she can; indoors. The house is quiet. The doors are locked, the curtains are closed, mattresses are nailed over the windows. They are out there. She might let them in. The children sleep in the bedroom across the hall. Soon she will have to wake them. Soon she will have to blindfold them. Today they must leave the house. Today they will risk everything.

This book obviously reminds me of Hitchcock’s The Birds (1963), which is so classic and untouchable. I am dying to dig into this to see how Malerman does now that I’m comparing him to the godfather of horror! I will admit that it’s a little out of my budget, at over $12 for the ebook, so I’m happy to report that my library has already ordered their copies. 😀

Unwept (Book One of the Nightbirds)
Tracy and Laura Hickman
July 1st, 2014

Gamin, Maine, is a remote seaside town where everyone seems to know Ellis Harkington better than she knows herself—but she doesn’t remember any of them.

Unknown events have robbed Ellis of her memory. Concerned individuals, who purport to be her friends and loved ones, insist that she simply needs to recuperate, that her memories may return in time, but refuse to divulge what has brought her to this state. For her own sake, so they say.

Ellis finds herself adrift in a town of ominous mysteries, cryptic hints, and disturbingly familiar strangers. The Nightbirds, a clique of fashionable young men and women, claim her as one of their own, but who among them can she truly trust? And what of the phantom suitor who visits her in her dreams? Is he a memory, a figment of her imagination, or a living nightmare beyond rational explanation?

Only her lost past hold the answers she seeks—if she can uncover its secrets before she fall prey to an unearthly killer.

Why I picked it? The cool creepy cover, and blurb. It sounds like a mystery, that has potential to turn into a horror story. I’m super excite about this one.
