Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine. It spotlights books that we can’t wait for!
This week we have a theme, and that’s books that we are embarrassed to be seen reading, or wanting to read. So much so that we even hesitate to add them to our TBR’s on Goodreads.
Title: Stepbrother Dearest
Author: Penelope Ward
Release Date: Sept. 2014
Blurb: You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.
When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.
I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.
At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. Then, things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.
Just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.
It had been years since I’d seen Elec.
When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.
And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.
I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.
Stepbrother Dearest is a standalone novel.
**Contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+
Honestly. My family is going to see this and think, what the fuck kind of lady porn is she reading now? It makes me cringe a little bit thinking my dad may happen to click on a link and see this. Or have the cover show up on my timeline. But I’m going to read it, and from the looks of the blurb I’m going to enjoy it. Also what the hell kind of name is Elec. *sigh*
The cover great, the blurb fantastic, and the title does make you stop and look at it! Truth be told I’m excited for it to be released and I will be downloading it right away.
Afterlife With Archie
by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Francesco Francavilla
Published June 10th 2014
When Jughead’s beloved pet Hot Dog is killed in a hit and run, Jughead turns to the only person he knows who can help bring back his canine companion—Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Using dark, forbidden magic, Sabrina is successful and Hot Dog returns to the land of the living. But he’s not the same… and soon, the darkness he brings back with him from beyond the grave begins to spread, forcing Archie and the gang to try to escape Riverdale! Collects issues 1-5 featuring the first storyline “Escape from Riverdale” from the new ongoing TEEN+ comic book horror series Afterlife with Archie.
How can I NOT want to read this, am I right?! I grew up on Archie comics, and now they’re being paired up with my love of zombies! It’s a match made in Heaven… or Hell… whatever. You know what I mean. I have to admit, though, that I’m a little embarrassed to be back to reading the comic books that I read as a pre-teen. I’ll have to follow it up with some heavy classics, like Moby Dick or War and Peace.
Title: Cry Little Sister
Author: Parker Ford
Release date: August 2012
After the death of their father, Jordan moves home to help her brother put him to rest. He breaks the news one night that evidence has come to light that they might not actually be related. Which puts a whole new spin on the vivid sexual fantasies they’ve had for years. Fantasies about each other.
There’s a very un-sibling-like attraction between Jordan and Gareth and it’s bubbling to the surface more and more with each day they spend together. A little knowledge can be powerful.
The question becomes, do they wait to sort it all out? Jordan wants to learn the pleasure of pain, and she knows her brother can teach her. Gareth is more than happy to give instructions, because he just wants Jojo, he’s wanted her for a very long time. So do they wait, or do they proceed, because…what if they’re wrong?
Warnings: This title contains pseudo-incest, BDSM, spanking, anal sex, explicit sex and language.
I’m embarrassed to click on Goodreads to say that I want to read this book, because I’m friends with my Mom on there. And because I know it’ll get posted on my timeline on Facebook, and lord knows how many people will see that. My Grandmother? She has a knack for commenting on the most awkward of things. LoL. But at the same time I may have cried a little when I saw that this book was no longer listed on Amazon. I might have to contact the author for a copy…
